Electric towel warmer heating time

Jan 16, 2014
The time it takes for a electric towel warmer to heat to the desired temperature depends on the internal heating system.

Some towel warmers heat by way of a new, patented technology that uses thick wire cables throughout the unit (both vertical and horizontal bars)  and takes only 15 minutes to heat up, regardless of the size of the unit.  Amba ( a leading manufacture of towel warmers) uses this technology in most of their collections.  Other towel warmers are heated with thin wire filaments.
Another process for heating the units is to use a heating element that heats a glycol-water mixture (similar to antifreeze) the unit is filled with.  This in turn heats up the horizontal and vertical bar, beginning iwth the top bars and working its way down.  Units like this take between 15 minutes to 1 hour to heat up to their top temperature, depending on the size of the unit and other parameters.

Note:  The temperature of the room, the size of the room, and whether the unit is placed near a vent will all have an effect on the time it takes to heat the towel.
